At Workshop Detroit, we’re all about mixing modern craftsmanship with a serious sense of place — and the Motor City Seatbelt Bench - Standard does exactly that. Made right here in Detroit, this bench brings together solid white oak and salvaged automotive seatbelts for a design that’s equal parts clean and creative. The oak frame is smooth, sturdy, and built to last, while the seat gives a nod to the city’s automotive roots with seatbelts woven into a bold, one-of-a-kind pattern.
This bench is part of our special collaboration with Pure Detroit, and it’s designed for anyone who loves furniture with a story. It’s made with brand-new hardwood, but it’s got Detroit soul woven right into the seat. Whether you park it in your entryway, at the foot of your bed, or anywhere that needs a little extra Detroit energy, this bench blends modern design with Motor City attitude — built by hand, built to last, and built for Detroit.
NOTE: This bench is made-to-order by Workshop Detroit with a fabrication lead time of approximately 4 weeks from when order is placed.

Workshop Detroit FAQ
Where are our benches made?
All Workshop Detroit benches are handcrafted at our fabrication shop in Detroit, Michigan by our small team of skilled craftsmen. Every table is built to order with close attention to detail, durability, and finish.
What materials do you use for your benches?
We specialize in reclaimed, salvaged and sustainably sourced solid wood, including reclaimed pine, reclaimed oak, and select hardwoods depending on the design. Each tabletop is paired with heavy-duty steel or solid wood bases designed for long-term stability.
Will my bench look exactly like the photos?
No two benches are exactly alike. Because we use real wood—often reclaimed—natural variations in grain, knots, and color are expected and celebrated. Your table will be similar in style and finish, but uniquely yours.
Can I customize the size or finish?
Yes. Most of our benches can be customized by size, wood species, finish color, and base style. If you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for, contact us and we’ll help design a table that fits your space perfectly.
How long does it take to receive my bench?
Because our benches are made to order, typical lead times range from 8–10 weeks depending on the design and current production schedule. We’ll provide an estimated timeline when your order is placed and keep you updated along the way.
Do you offer white glove delivery or in-home setup?
Yes. We offer in-home delivery and set up is available for many locations and includes delivery, placement, and packaging removal.
Are your benches durable enough for everyday use?
Absolutely. Our tables are built for daily life. We use commercial-grade finishes that protect against spills, heat, and normal wear. Our benches are built to last for generations.
How do I care for and clean my bench?
Routine care is simple. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners. No Bleach. Mild soap only. Coasters and placemats are recommended for added protection, as with any natural wood surface.
What if my bench arrives damaged?
We stand behind our work. If your table arrives with shipping damage, contact us immediately and we’ll make it right—whether that means repair, replacement, or another solution.
