Carhartt Crafted Series Launch Features Workshop Detroit

By Workshop Detroit

We're pretty excited about this one.

Carhartt has officially launched its latest Crafted Series collection, and we're proud to share that Workshop Detroit and our talented crew of furniture makers are featured in the new campaign.

A few months back, the Carhartt marketing team spent two days inside our Detroit fabrication shop photographing and filming our staff wearing the new Crafted Series collection. Jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts, t-shirts, gloves, pants, and more. All worn by the people who work here, doing exactly what they do every day: building modern furniture from reclaimed wood and steel.

Now that the collection has been released to the public, we finally get to share what came out of those two remarkable days!

The photos and videos capture our shop, our people, and the furniture-making process in a way we're incredibly proud of. The Carhartt crew brought a tremendous amount of creative energy into the building, and the whole experience was genuinely fun.

No elaborate sets. No professional models playing the part of furniture makers. Just our people, our tools, our materials, and a lot of really good workwear.

It's not every day that a brand like Carhartt asks you to help tell its story. Especially when that story has so much in common with your own.

Introducing the Carhartt Crafted Series

Carhartt has been making workwear since 1889. That's a lot of years spent thinking about the needs of people who build, repair, fabricate, and create.

The Crafted Series draws on that history, bringing together familiar Carhartt silhouettes, archival details, and thoughtful updates to classic workwear.

The collection is released in limited seasonal batches, with each release featuring special-edition pieces that celebrate Carhartt's long history of craftsmanship.

The latest collection includes jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies, T-shirts, work pants, and other apparel with details that go beyond appearance. Triple-stitched seams, durable fabrics, practical pockets, purposeful reinforcements, and classic designs are all part of the appeal.

The apparel featured in our photo shoot was manufactured at Carhartt's Kentucky facility, another connection to the tradition of American manufacturing that made this project particularly meaningful to us.

But what we especially appreciate about the Crafted Series is the idea behind it.

The collection pays tribute to creators. Not simply the finished things they make, but the skill and effort that go into making them.

That's a story we understand well at Workshop Detroit.

Two Days Inside the Workshop Detroit Furniture Shop

Our shop is a busy place.

On any given day, there are reclaimed wood dining tables being assembled, steel bases being fabricated, benches being sanded, and custom furniture projects moving through various stages of production.

There's always something happening, and rarely much standing around.

For two days, we added cameras, lighting equipment, a production crew, and a whole collection of Carhartt clothing to the mix.

It could have been chaotic. Instead, it was an absolute blast.

The Carhartt team came in with a clear creative vision, but they also gave our furniture makers the freedom to do what they do best.

Our crew wore the latest Crafted Series workwear as they measured, cut, sanded, assembled, and fabricated furniture throughout the shop. The photographers and filmmakers followed the action, finding interesting angles and moments as the work unfolded.

The clothes weren't just being displayed. They were being worn in the middle of an actual workday.

That distinction made all the difference.

A jacket looks entirely different on someone guiding a piece of reclaimed lumber across a workbench than it does hanging on a rack. A pair of work gloves makes a lot more sense when they're holding something heavy. And there's a certain appeal to a well-designed pair of work pants when the person wearing them is actually working.

The shop provided an endless supply of interesting backgrounds, textures, and activity. Weathered oak. Dark steel. Sawdust. Machinery. Finished furniture alongside rough material waiting for its turn.

Best of all, the atmosphere was high vibe from beginning to end. Lots of laughs, great conversations, and a shared enthusiasm for getting the shots right.

We even managed to build some furniture along the way.

Why Workshop Detroit Was a Natural Fit

There's an obvious connection between Carhartt and Workshop Detroit, and it goes well beyond being two brands with Detroit roots.

We both care about how things are made.

At Workshop Detroit, we design and build modern furniture using sustainably sourced reclaimed lumber and steel. Much of our wood comes from houses and commercial buildings that have been deconstructed, giving valuable material another opportunity to be useful.

It's a process that requires a considerable amount of hands-on work.

Old lumber doesn't arrive looking like a finished dining table. It arrives with nails, rough edges, irregularities, and decades of history. Getting it ready for furniture requires patience, experience, and more than a little physical labor.

But that's part of what makes the material interesting.

Each piece of wood has its own character, and our job is to bring that character forward without losing the clean, modern design we're known for.

Our furniture collections include reclaimed wood dining tables, benches, coffee tables, console tables, credenzas, conference tables, and custom furniture for residential and commercial spaces.

We design for the way people live today, but we have an appreciation for materials and construction methods that have stood the test of time.

There's a parallel with the Carhartt Crafted Series.

Carhartt revisits familiar workwear designs, paying attention to the details that made them successful in the first place while introducing improvements for today's working environment.

We approach furniture design in much the same way. Good design doesn't always require reinventing something. Sometimes it means reconsidering the proportions, improving a detail, refining a joint, or allowing the material itself to take center stage.

Different products. Similar thinking.

Detroit Has Always Been a City of Makers

There's another reason this campaign feels particularly appropriate. Detroit.

For generations, this city has been home to people who design, engineer, manufacture, fabricate, and build things. From automobiles and architecture to furniture, music, and art, Detroit has produced an extraordinary amount of creative work.

Carhartt's roots in the city go back more than a century. Workshop Detroit is a much younger company, but we're proud to participate in that same tradition of manufacturing and design.

Our furniture shop is a place where ideas become physical objects. Drawings become prototypes. Rough materials become finished pieces. Problems get solved with tools, experience, and a little ingenuity.

We think there's something worth celebrating about that.

And it's encouraging to see a company with Carhartt's reach choosing to highlight the people who continue to make things with their hands.

In a marketplace filled with products that seem to appear out of nowhere, it's easy to forget the people responsible for actually making them.

Someone designed it. Someone cut the material. Someone assembled it. Someone checked the details. Someone made sure it worked.

Those people deserve a little attention.

That's one of the things we appreciate most about the Crafted Series campaign. It puts the people doing the work into the picture.

A Look Behind the Furniture

For customers who know Workshop Detroit primarily through our website, this campaign offers a different view of the company.

Most of our furniture photography focuses on the finished product. A reclaimed wood dining table in a beautiful dining room. A coffee table in a contemporary living space. A console table against a clean architectural wall.

Those images are important because they help people imagine how our furniture will look in their own homes.

But there's another side to Workshop Detroit that doesn't always make it into those photographs.

The fabrication shop.

It's where every piece begins, and where our staff spends their days turning raw materials into furniture.

The Carhartt campaign brings that part of our business forward.

You see the people behind the furniture. The tools they use. The machinery. The movement. The process.

And you get a better sense of just how much work goes into a piece of modern reclaimed wood furniture before it ever leaves our shop.

We're particularly happy that our crew had the opportunity to be featured. They're the people responsible for bringing our furniture designs to life, and seeing them represented in a national workwear campaign is a pretty special thing.

Celebrating the Launch of Carhartt Crafted

Now that Carhartt has released its latest Crafted Series to the public, we're excited that everyone can finally see the campaign.

The collection is a thoughtful interpretation of classic workwear, and the limited seasonal releases make each new batch something to look forward to.

We're grateful to the entire Carhartt team for choosing Workshop Detroit, for spending two days with us, and for bringing such great energy and creativity into our shop.

We're equally proud of our own staff for representing Workshop Detroit and the work we do here every day.

For a furniture company that started with an idea to give Detroit's discarded urban lumber a new life, being featured in a Carhartt campaign is an experience we won't soon forget.

Most mornings, we arrive at the shop, get the tools running, and start building furniture. It's what we love to do.

For two days, Carhartt came along for the ride.

And now the rest of the world gets a look inside.
